Series: Principles of the Cross
The shedding of Jesus Christ's Blood on the Cross was an essential factor in order for us to receive forgiveness for our sins and acceptance into the presence of God
"... without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness" Hebrews 9:2
"For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves . . . it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life" Leviticus 1 7: 1 1 .The blood represents the very life. Sin demands the death penalty (Ezekiel 18:4). Jesus shed His Blood and poured out his life - instead of us - so that by receiving through faith what He did in our place, we are set free from the judgment we deserve.
" . . . When I see the blood I will pass over you . . . " (v. 3).
"How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God " Hebrews 9: 14.
"Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate" Hebrews 13: 12 (KJV) .
" . . . and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour" Colossisns 1 :20-21.
"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body . . . Iet us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water" Hebrews 10: 19-22.
" . . . because by one sacrifice he has made perfect for ever those who are being made holy" Hebrews 10:14.
"Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?'' Read Romans 8:31 -34 (KJV).The devil has no ground for accusation against those who have received the work of Christ's shed Blood for them.
" . . . in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" Colossians 1: 14.'Redemption' means 'to buy back'. We are under new ownership, and the price that was paid for us was the shed blood of Jesus.
" . . . the church of God, which he bought with his own blood" Acts 20:28 (see also 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Timothy 2:6).
